TAX BREAKS: The PEW report issued Wednesday November 11, 2009 reports that Michigan's "growing tax exemptions, credits, and deductions have overtaken state revenue."

This has been a source of frustration for Michigan's horse racing industry. The industry has been a net gain producer for the state for more than 76 years, yet, struggles annually with the state to stay alive. As we all know, we were forced to fund the ORC from our purse money to save our 2009 season.

An industry that supports itself with 12,000 family jobs, millions in economic impact for the state with no tax breaks. Our industry sends money to the state and deserves a serious effort by our Governor and Legislature to allow the industry to compete fairly for the gaming dollar and offer Michigan residents the many new wagering products other states have made available for their residents.11/12

Finding the right trainer is one of the most important things an owner can do, don't procrastinate,  start looking now, a partial list of trainers can be found just go to Michigan Trainers page.   You can see how trainers, owners and horses did during the 2008, by going to the stats page which has all racing results.

We will be publishing information on  Racing in Michigan and how to get involved with the Michigan Bred Program.  A few board members are compiling information to share with you.  Did you know in 2007, Michigan bred Arabians were eligible to run for an additional estimated 20,000.00?  This is on top of the MPM purses.  It's easier than you think to get involved in this program.
